The Heroic Project, also known as HEROIC focuses on educating and empowering young women to learn essential skills to make smart and safe choices, identify and engage in healthy relationships and become the best versions of themselves.

THE TRUTHS
mental health and depression
Nearly 3 in 5 (57%) U.S. teen girls felt persistently sad or hopeless in 2021—double that of boys, representing a nearly 60% increase and the highest level reported over the past decade.

Nearly 1 in 3 (30%) seriously considered attempting suicide—up nearly 60% from a decade ago.

SEXUAL ASSAULT and rape
Females ages 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.

Women ages 18-24 who are college students are 3 times more likely than women in general to experience sexual violence.
​
More than 1 in 10 (14%) have been forced to have sex—up 27% since 2019.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE
1 in 4 women (24.3%) aged 18 and older have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner.

Women under the age of 20 are almost ten times more likely to be victims of crime than persons over the age of 65. Teenagers are most often the victims of both violence and personal theft.
STALKING
1 in 6 women will experience stalking in their lifetime. 18-24 year olds experience the highest rates of stalking.

Trauma from stalking is real. Victims tend to experience fear of what the stalker might do, it can lead to depression or anxiety as well as eating and sleeping disturbances.
