There is a reality in our country that a lot of people don’t want to talk about, and that reality is that every second a woman becomes a victim by of a man. it could be emotional abuse, physical violence or sexual assault, but it happens every second. We are not going to change what has been a social pandemic for hundreds of years. What I do hope to do through HEROIC is arm women with education and information, that if used can prevent them from becoming a victim.

As a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, with a major in Legal Studies and a minor in Psychology, I have long been invested in both the legal and psychological side of criminal justice and behavior. I created HEROIC because I wanted to empower young women with the skills necessary to keep themselves safe and confident, in all situations. As well as help them identify the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships.

In 1998 I read a book titled The Gift of Fear by world renowned security expert, Gavin De Becker. It changed my life. I have since read it three times and all others that he has published. I've studied his master class and have spent hundreds of hours studying true crime cases and the human behavior associated with violent crime. Most everything I teach through Heroic I have learned through Gavin's teachings or through personal experiences of my own. I was nearly abducted twice as a young girl, once when I was 11 and again when I was 13. Later, in the my teens I was the victim of sexual assault. It is difficult to find a women who by her mid life, has not been the victim of physical, sexual or emotional abuse. This is why the mission of HEROIC is so vital to safeguarding young women everywhere.
